Connect Google Play Developer Account

Create an App and set up Google Play Console and Google Play Store for in-app products and Android App publishing.

Step 1: Create and link a Google service account for Android publishing.

  1. Log in to your Google Play Console
  2. Click the Create App button
  3. Fill out the App name and Default language
  4. Select the type of your App, then select if it’s a Free or paid app
  5. Scroll down and tick the Developer Program Policies and US Report Laws options
  6. Click Create App

Step 2: Set up Google Console and Google Play Store

  1. Go to Google Console, log in using your credentials
  2. Click the project at the top left, then click New Project
  3. Enter your project name, select organization, and location
  4. Click Create
  5. Ensure your new project is selected in the header dropdown

Step 3: Once the project is created:

  1. Go to the Navigation Menu, hover over API & Services > Enable API & Services, and click Library
  2. Search Google Play Android Developer API and click the result
  3. Click Enable
  4. Click API & Services > Credentials , click Create Credentials > Service Account
  5. Enter a Service Account Name and hit Create and Continue
  6. Select Owner under the Role dropdown and click Continue
  7. Click Done

Step 4: Create a Service Account Key

  1. Click the Pencil icon next to the Service Account Key created
  2. Navigate to the Keys tab
  3. Click the Add Key dropdown and select Create New Key
  4. Select JSON and click Create

A pop-up will appear notifying you that your private key has been saved to your computer. Note that you can download this file only once.

  1. Go back to the previous page and copy the service account email address. Needed to grant app permissions

Step 5: Granting Play Console Permissions to the Service Account

  1. Go back to Google Console and click Go to Play Console Button
  2. Click Users and Permissions on the sidebar
  3. Click Invite New User
  4. Paste the email address copied in Step 4
  5. In the App Permissions tab, click Add App and select the App that you created, then click Apply
  6. In the Accounts Permissions, decide whether you would like to give full permission to the app
    • For full access, select Admin  (or tick only the scopes you need), then click Invite user
  7. Click Invite User and click Send Invite
  8. Verify the service account appears with status Active in your users list

Step 6: Uploading to the BuddyBoss App 

Upload your JSON key to enable Google app submission.

  1. Go to your WordPress Dashboard > BuddyBoss App > Configure > Android Settings
  2. Upload the JSON key file to the Service Account Key
  3. Click Connect Account

Your Google Play Developer Account is now linked!
