Setting Up Push Notifications

Learn how to enable and configure push notifications in the BuddyBoss App using Firebase and the platform’s built-in tools, so your community stays connected and actively engaged.

Enable and customize push notifications so your community stays connected and engaged.

  1. In WordPress Admin, go to BuddyBoss App > Settings > Push Notifications.
  2. Toggle Enable Push Notifications and click Save Changes.
  3. Confirm Firebase is configured: upload Firebase config files and Admin SDK Key under BuddyBoss App > Configure > Google Firebase.
    • If you haven’t set up Firebase yet, revisit the Firebase Setup for Notifications section.
  4. Under Push Notifications, enable or disable specific triggers, such as:
    • New messages
    • Mentions (@)
    • Friend requests
    • Group activity
    • Course or lesson updates
  5. Click Save Changes.

Send Manual Notifications (Optional)

  1. Go to BuddyBoss App > Push Notifications > New Notification
  2. Enter a title and message
  3. Choose your audience (all users, specific groups, or roles)
  4. Click Send Now (or schedule it for later)
